One Person Can Make A Difference

Tim first met John McGee in 1999 and has been fully invested in the philosophy of Gentle Teaching ever since. John offered to personally mentor Tim in Gentle Teaching, and the two spent countless hours together each year until John’s passing.

Tim has been an active member of the GTI community, presenting at international conferences, as well as training and mentoring employees and other organizations throughout western Canada. Tim served on the former GTI Board of Directors as a member at large and as Board President.

Tim served as the Executive Director of Saskatchewan Alternative Initiatives in Canada from 1999 until the summer of 2024. He is now the Chief Learning Officer at Creative Options Regina, overseeing their training initiatives through the COR Academy. Tim holds an undergraduate diploma in Values Based Leadership and a Masters degree in Global Leadership.

In 2023, Tim was bestowed the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee medal in recognition of his contributions in the field of Social Services in Saskatchewan. He continues to work passionately to weave together leadership practices with a culture of gentleness.

Program Description

In this Story of Hope, Tim will share examples and lessons learned through his own personal journey with the practice of Gentle Teaching over the past 24 years. Tim will share how his own journey took him from being the first person in Saskatchewan to adopt Gentle Teaching to a province and country that now has deep roots in Gentle Teaching. Tim will share how, as just one person, he was able to lead and influence Cultures of Gentleness in his own organization, province and beyond; in doing so he will also discuss the importance of relationships and partnerships.

His hope is to inspire others that they too can make a difference! That no matter what your official job, you can become a leader in creating a culture of Gentleness, continually growing and evolving in our understanding and practice of Gentle Teaching.
